Michael Scheers is a Belgian visual artist.

Self-taught, Michael Scheers has evolved since his early childhood in the world of advertising. This universe allows him to display from an early age a strong sense of detail.

In his works nothing is left to chance, each component is reflected, studied and selected with great attention. Through his colourful compositions the artist reveals a mastery of the material. Michael Scheers explores constantly the infinite technical possibilities of textures and colours. Everything is clear and precise. A great sense of rigor accompanies each of his compositions.

Michael Scheers delivers works without profound message but where lines, colours and images coexist in perfect harmony, releasing amazing vibration.

Through the use of the torsion as essential element, Michael Scheers works play with the third dimension of the space. Strips of plastic, leather or velvet are twisted on the canvas and vary in colour according to the light. Circles, squares and lines are in constant change of shades creating optical effects pushed to infinity. It is in these illusions, everyone can escape and dream.

His career in the field of graphic design has led him to develop a sense of balance and improvisation that is found in his artistic work. His hand found, as a magnet, this constant quest of lines, aesthetics and beauty.

An invitation from the artist to a harmonious universe. An infinite pleasure to transmit his passion for line cutting, colour - without speech or explanation.

The observation of his works is a constant process of transformation where colours and shapes depend on the viewing angle. Michael Scheersworks truly inhabit the space and interact with the viewer who becomes participant in spite of him.

We can not ignore the parallelism between his work and that of Walter Leblanc or Carlos Cruz-Diez. The artist will retain the importance of colour and graphic quality of the compositions.

Michael Scheers has participated in several exhibitions in Belgium and the United States. In 2015, he had a large solo exhibition at the Chateau Fond'Roy in Brussels and was represented at Art Hamptons. In 2016, he was selected for a solo show on the Rooftop 58 in Brussels and will be presented in August at Knokke le Zoute.

Michael Scheers was born in 1958. He lives and works in Rixensart (BE).

Certains s’expriment avec des mots... Michael Scheers, lui, s’exprime avec des lignes, des courbes, des couleurs, des textures.
Depuis l’adolescence, synthétiser, interpréter, traduire un message ou une émotion est sa passion. Son premier métier de graphic designer l’a amené à développer un sens de l’équilibre et de l’improvisation ; à créer des incontournables tel le logo MasterCard et à jongler avec le visuel comme médium d’expression. Chef d’entreprise pendant plus de vingt ans, Michael Scheers est inexorablement attiré par une créativité plus conceptuelle, empreinte d’étonnement et de poésie. Quand le besoin urgent de travailler avec la matière se fait ressentir, sa sensibilité émotionnelle prend le dessus, lui permet de s’éloigner des expectations pragmatiques du marché et du marketing pour s’ouvrir à une trajectoire purement artistique.
Aujourd’hui, Michael Scheers s’épanouit pleinement dans son Art en Mouvement, L’ART VIVANT.

L’art de Michael Scheers se trouve à mi-chemin entre illusion d’optique et mouvement.
La découverte de l’oeuvre est un processus de transformation où l’angle de vision définit formes et couleurs.
L’amateur, l’ami, le badaud, le curieux garde le contrôle; tel un kaléidoscope, il choisit l’arrêt sur image et interrompt la mutation.
Un carré devient cercle, un rouge s’évapore, un bleu apparaît, un segment devient courbe, un jeu de cache-cache s’installe, et comme un nuage tantôt chien, tantôt chat, nous nous laissons emporter dans sa rêverie et sa fantaisie. Chaque composition géométrique est un voyage poétique où la maîtrise des couleurs et la découverte de configurations inattendues surprennent, magnétisent ou interrogent.

L’Art en Mouvement est participatif, dynamique et social. Au moment où chacun témoigne de sa perception, les interprétations et acuités artistiques partagent ou rapprochent, mais laissent peu d’indifférents. L’objectif relationnel complète sans nul doute le dessein esthétique, l’expérience onirique et le challenge technique. L’Art, vecteur de vie et de passion n’est que contradiction, questionnement, distraction, diversion ou voyage; il est introspection et communication.

Paradoxe de précision et d’évasion, Michael Scheers travaille dans la méticulosité, le soucis du détail, la précision et cette clarté ouvre singulièrement les porte d’un univers inattendu où rêveries et irrationalités prédominent. Pour toucher ce mirage, Michael Scheers a quitté l’espace 2 dimensions utilisé en graphisme pour le 3D, passage obligé où languettes de canevas, cuir, corde, plastic, feutrine... se croisent, se tordent et se parlent. Chaque pièce unique est terrain d’expérimentation pour notre plaisir et inclination à inventer nous aussi.
